At Sprouts, we aim to help grow the next generation of environmentalists.-Caity & Ellen, Sprouts owners, directors & teachers
Our goal is to help children connect with art, nature, and each other on a base level through exploration, creation, and imaginative play on a daily basis.
Children at Sprouts spend hours outside, in all weather, on our oversize Nature Playground, discovering some of the amazing things that Central Illinois nature has to offer.
Inside, natural materials and our nature-based curriculum help to bring the outside in.
Free play is the foundation of Sprouts – our indoor and outdoor classrooms are carefully arranged to be inviting, engaging, and promote independence.
Sprouts materials are open-ended, screen and battery free, and require children to grow their imaginations.
With a maximum of 20 children attending at one time and only two staff members, our small size promotes a close-knit community often lacking in childcare centers.
Our local focus creates a mindful and inclusive attitude toward our surrounding community as well.
Children at Sprouts have free access to a variety of art supplies both indoors and out, in addition to more structured art activities weekly.
The art areas are constantly restocked with rotating materials for children to create as they please.
